After changing the recipe of their Crispy Chicken Sandwich (review) earlier this year, Burger King has been focused on pushing their chicken sandwiches. Burger King’s current national advertising campaign is focused on promoting the Bacon Cheddar Ranch Crispy Chicken Sandwich. Although this item is not new, (here is a commercial featuring Darius Rucker singing about the sandwich from 2004) Burger King has been running a considerable number of advertisements for it so I decided to review the revamped version.
The Bacon Cheddar Ranch Crispy Chicken Sandwich comes with Burger King’s new chicken filet topped with thick cut smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, and creamy bacon ranch sauce on a potato bun. The small combo at my local Burger King costs $7.89. The sandwich has 830 calories, 52 grams of fat, and 34 grams of protein.
The first review we did on this website was for Burger King’s New Crispy Chicken Sandwich. In my review I said that I enjoyed the new version of the sandwich. Once again I found the chicken to be absolutely delicious. It was juicy while still being thick and hefty. I found the bacon to be well prepared, and the amount of ranch was perfect. One problem I noted in my previous review was the amount of mayo they put on was a bit overpowering and made the meal messy. That was not my experience this time around.
One of the interesting parts of eating this sandwich was how depending on what ingredients you got in a certain bite, it tasted like a different sandwich. If you got mostly chicken, it tasted like the delicious New Crispy Chicken Sandwich. However, on bites heavy in bacon, it almost felt like I was eating a BLT. Then some bites would leave a strong cheddar aftertaste. It made for an enjoyable eat.
Overall I would recommend this sandwich to anybody who enjoys chicken. I have been very impressed by Burger King’s new chicken sandwiches and think it is smart for them to try to push into that market. It creates an opportunity for them to differentiate their brand a bit and create a larger customer base.
