Welcome to Taco Bell, home of the over-sized quasi-Mexican food. On Episode 8, we tackle the not large, not extra-large, but XXL (also coincidentally your waste size if you decided to make this your go-to item) Grilled Stuft Burrito. Coming in at an XXL price of $4.59, this standard menu item promises to deliver mounds of seasoned beef, shredded three cheese blend, refried beans, Latin rice, reduced-fat sour cream, guacamole, avocado ranch, and pico-de-gallo.
While this sounds like a case of “more of the same good stuff, it can only be better, right?” That might be the exact issue. It’s too much, there’s too much filling in this burrito for the tortilla that attempts to hold it together. The proportions, of fillings are way off course. One bite is all beans, the next all rice, and the bottom is a mouthful of the most confusing guacamole I’ve ever tasted.
What was so confusing about the guacamole? It was accompanied by ranch sauce. Avocado ranch sauce is the amazing flavor that graced us in the Naked Chicken Chalupa, and the flavor that may have ultimately ruined this burrito. Who decided that RANCH… was the right flavor to go with guacamole. Seriously, stop. Guacamole is an enjoyable flavor, why are you screwing it up?
Overall, I’m glad I got a Chipotle Chicken Loaded Griller along with this because I needed to remind myself that Taco Bell still has good items. My suggestion is to skip the XXL Burrito. If you want big, get the Triple double Crunchwrap Box which is better value and more enjoyable.
