Sonic Peanut Butter Bacon Shake Review

As we discussed on the most recent episode of the podcast, for a limited time Sonic is offering a Peanut Butter Bacon Shake. I stopped at my local Sonic the other day to sample one, while also trying the Peanut Butter Bacon Burger.

The shake is offered in four sizes: mini ($4.49), small ($5.29), medium ($6.59), and large ($7.29). I went with a small for my order.

I ordered my meal and brought it back to my house to eat. I am thankful I did not have to eat in my car, because when I put a straw in to drink my shake, it was so thick that I was unable to suck up any milkshake. Sonic did provide a spoon along with the straw, so I instead used the spoon for my milkshake.

The shake was so thick that it was basically like eating peanut butter soft serve ice cream. While soft serve might not have been what I envisioned, it tasted delicious. If you like smooth peanut butter soft serve, you will enjoy the Peanut Butter Bacon Shake.

The bacon mix in was interesting and provided a bit of textural contrast, but the bacon flavor was minimal. The bacon pieces were larger than I expected, but I would not have been able to suck it up with a straw.

Overall, I found the Peanut Butter Bacon Shake to be an enjoyable peanut butter soft serve treat. Just be warned if you’re planning on picking one of these up while driving, it might be too thick to drink.

8/10 – Docked points for not really being a “milkshake”, but I would recommend to anyone who likes peanut butter soft serve.
