Wendy’s has a new version of their spicy chicken sandwich. I stopped by my local store to give it a try.
Per Wendy’s the new spicy chicken sandwich has a number of upgrades. A new bold marinade, premium panko style breading, a soft potato bun, rich homestyle mayo, and pickles. The sandwich also comes with shredded lettuce and sliced tomato.

Flavor wise, I think this sandwich was fine. It had some heat but still could have used more, so I wouldn’t go so far as to call this a bold marinade. The breading was good, as was the bun. The mayo and pickles were fine but nothing noticeably different than standard fare.
The biggest disapointment to me was the actual chicken breast. It was very thin. Much more so than what you would get at Popeyes or Chick-fil-a.
I would say if you are at Wendy’s and want a chicken sandwich, this would be a serviceable meal. However, if you want a chicken sandwich and have other options, I would stick with those.
