At the recent Liv Mas event, Taco Bell unveiled a new dessert treat, the Chocolate Fudge & Caramel Empanadas. These come in a two pack (one of each) and run $2.99. This past weekend, I stopped by my local Taco Bell to give them a try.
I had seen some online discourse that people were disappointed in the size. While not a full size dessert, I wouldn’t call these bite size either. I finished each empanada in around three bites. For the price, I thought the size was fine.

I preferred the caramel to the chocolate fudge. I think you got a better flavor combination with the shell and the caramel, compared to the one note flavor of the chocolate fudge. My biggest issue was the texture. The shell was too dense, which resulted in it needing to be over-fried, making it a thick bite. If this had been a more light an airy shell, I would have already gone back for another caramel empanada.
