For lunch today I tried the Taco Bell 3 Cheese Chicken Flatbread Melt. One of the new 1, 2, 3 Dollar Cravings menu items at Taco Bell. This item is advertised as “a soft flatbread sandwich made with grilled chicken, chipotle sauce, and a three-cheese blend.” This Item came as described and was actually better than I expected.
Inside of this flatbread melt was a very generous portion of chicken that was also generously smothered in chipotle sauce and enough cheese to keep the flatbread halves stuck together. Like I expected, and mentioned on the pod, the flatbread breading was a little too heavy for this item and somewhat overpowered each of my bites. I ended up focusing on the parts of the melt that were loaded with chicken and cheese and tore away any unadulterated flatbread at the edges. The flatbread seemed very similar to the specific soft tortilla that is used to wrap the cheesy gordita crunch, but in this case, since there were large enough sections of it that the only bite you could take was flatbread, I was able to taste it more individually and it wasn’t great. Not that it’s a bad flatbread/ tortilla, just that it’s only that… a piece of bread…

Thankfully the sections of this offering that were full of meat, cheese and sauce were bursting with flavor. The Chipotle sauce was very good and blended nicely with the large chunks of chicken and generous amounts of melted cheese.
While this item won’t become a regular staple for me, I can highly recommend this as a fast food item with a lot of value for the cost. At $2.39, the large flatbread and generous amount of chicken made for a product that can fill you up quickly and tastes great doing so. Only downside for me is that I actually prefer less filling items, so I can order more variety in my taco bell meals.
